His Excellency Dr. José Ramos-Horta
President of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste,

His Excellency the President of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, Dr. José Ramos-Horta previously served as Senior Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and was first elected as President of Timor-Leste for a five-year term from May 2007.

He later became a Special Representative of the UN Secretary General in Guinea Bissau and chaired the UN High Level Independent Panel on Peace Operations, a worldwide review of UN Peacekeeping and Mediation efforts. In May 2022, he was elected as President of Timor-Leste for a second term.

In 1996, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his advocacy of human rights.
