Centre on Renewable Energy
As part of PIDF’s efforts to support countries with the development of national and regional renewable energy frameworks, the implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions and implementation of decarbonisation plans and address policy, regulatory and financial obstacles, the PIDF has partnered with the University of Fiji to co-manage the Centre of Renewable Energy (CORE).
The University of Fiji Center of Renewable Energy (CORE) and the PIDF entered a Memorandum of Cooperation for the Co-management of the Center in 2017. The organizations have identified the following activities to hold and pursue jointly in the 2019-2020 period:
- International Symposium on Renewable Energy and Environment, Climate Change (ISREECC 2019) – a forum for scientists, practitioners and policy makers in energy, environment and climate change from the region to meet and evaluate the results of their efforts at a common platform.
- Implementing the International Solar Alliance STAR-C Programme on capacity-building, standardization and research.
- Pogomia Biofuel Project phase 1
